Confirmation Requirements

1.  All candidates must be at least a sophomore in high school

2.  Some candidates will have completed all Eighth Grade Requirements

 a.  Retreat

 b.  20 hours of service

3.  Some candidates will have completed all Pre-Confirmation Requirements

 a.  Have good attendance in class

 b.  40 hours of service

 c.  Retreat

4.  Must attend mass on a weekly basis.

5.  Attend one Confirmation Retreat:

           Jan. 2-4, 2009, or

         February 13-15, 2009, at Camp Allen.

6.  Completed 100 Hours of Service -  (1 from list A) see below

 a.  All service opportunities must be turned in as completed.

 b.  Service opportunities should reflect the Teachings of Christ such as  

      (Beatitudes, Corporal Works of Mercy, Spiritual Works of Mercy)

 c.  Good attendance at class. Only two excused absences will be allowed per semester

7.  All paper work must be turned no later than November 1, 2008

 a. Baptismal Certificate.

 b. Confirmation Information Form (including dates of Eucharist & Reconciliation)

 c. Sponsors:  someone at least 16 years of age, has received their Sacraments of Initiation and is a practicing Catholic. Sponsor must attend 3 sponsor meetings & Confirmation.  A parent can not be a sponsor, but can proxy.

8.  Youth must attend eight of the following in our parish (any combination)

 a. Generation Christ Meeting held on Thursdays at 7:00 PM

 b. Tuesday Youth Bible Study at 7:00 PM

 c. Eucharistic Adoration

     A. Pick at least one:
            Food Fast – 24 hours
            Liturgy Involvement-
            (On going) Server, Usher, Choir, Children’s church- 25 hours
            Vacation Bible School – 40 hours
            Sponsor or mentor for RCIA- 40 hours
            RE – Helper or Aide – 40 hours
            Mission Trips -40 hours
            Retreat Teams – 40 hours

        B. Additional Service Opportunities – Hours based on length of event
            Festival
            Liturgy Help- Christmas
            Liturgy Help –Easter
            Nursing home
            Helping CtR staff on special events
            Help with Parish Food Drive
            Elderly or parish help
            Other Youth Minister sponsored events, summer camps
            Parish Events: Coffee & Donuts, K.C. Fish Fry
            Other: Tutoring, Babysitting, Cutting grandparents grass, Cleaning grandparents house (service you do not get paid for)
