Our purpose is to offer counsel and consultation to the pastor on matters of pastoral planning and policy. We commit ourselves to providing the best possible counsel which is the result of prayer, reflection, and dialogue, as well as study, research, and consultation with other parishioners. By the fact that we are convoked by the pastor, we will respond to his call and questions and offer the best consultation possible to support him in discerning how God is calling the parish to fulfill its mission.
To accomplish this we will:
• Annually examine the parish’s pastoral needs, put them in to order of importance, study how to meet them, and then make recommendations;
• Serve as a vehicle of dialogue, communication, coordination, and cooperation with parish committees, ministries, and staff;
• Develop clear plans and procedures to operate as a council;
• Use the consensus process to development agreement;
• Schedule time to socialize, learn more about each other, and share our faith journey; and, most importantly,
• Be a prayerful people beginning and ending each gathering in prayer and taking the time to develop spiritually so as to be more keenly aware of the Spirit’s presence and functioning within the Council.
Strategic Intents
In April 2007, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) at CtR, under the direction
of Fr. Sean initiated the task of codifying what have come to be called the
Strategic Intents of the parish. The Strategic Intents are those objectives
which should help the Parish as a whole, and the Ministries in particular
develop, refine and maintain focus. These intents are: Community, Faith
Formation, Liturgy / Music, Social Outreach, Stewardship, Vocations, and
Youth / Young Adults.
In October 2007, the Fr. Sean, the PPC and the Ministry leaders of the
Parish met to review the objectives in detail and further, to reach out to
the individual ministries and solicit their inputs on these objectives.
Specifically, how do the Stategic Intents apply to their Ministry today and
also to evaluate where the Ministries could stretch themselves to further
these intents in the spririt of becoming a "great parish".
This process took place over several months with the data turned into CtR
staff members. The information was reviewed in detail and representative
parts of it were presented back to the Ministry leaders in a meeting on
April 12, 2008 as a Powerpoint presentation. The meeting served to provide
detailed information on the process to date. Additionally, there was a
session in which the Ministry leaders were asked to "remove all barriers" as
to what their ministries required and to consider where this could lead.
Click Here to access the
Powerpoint that was presented to the Ministry leaders. We ask for your
feedback as you review this information.
Respectfully submitted,
CtR PPC
Assessment of Parish Pastoral Needs & Recommendations
Each year the Council will assess the pastoral needs of the parish beginning with the needs identified the previous year, adding or deleting as needed. For each new need, a statement of strategic intent will be developed, i.e. what we are trying to bring to fruition in the parish relative to that need. Then, the staff and various ministries will develop recommendations on goals to be accomplished to assure that strategic intent is achieved. These recommendations will be provided to the pastor for his approval and overall coordination.
