Please consider making a gift to CtR in your will or living trust. This charitable bequest is a simple and powerful way to leave a legacy of support for our parish. Your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift's total value and gives you the flexibility to make changes to your wishes during your lifetime. The bequest can be structured according to your desired plans – donors can leave a specific amount of money to CtR, make the gift dependent on certain event or leave a percentage of the estate to the parish. The following language can be used to make your gift this way:
“Rev. Sean P. Horrigan, Pastor of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, and his successors in office, for the benefit of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Houston, Harris County, Texas.”
As a nonprofit organization, CtR is tax-exempt and eligible to receive the full amount of a donation received through retirement assets - bypassing federal taxes. A well-planned charitable gift via retirement assets also can avoid or reduce income taxes, as well. A donor can designate CtR as the primary beneficiary for a percentage (1 to 100 percent) of your retirement plan assets to be paid to the parish before the remainder is divided among family beneficiaries. To implement this gift in your future plans, please reach out to your plan administrator.
Donors may consider giving their life insurance policy new purpose through giving to their parish home. Naming CtR as a sole beneficiary or a partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy can provide generously for the future of the parish. Or CtR can be named as the contingent beneficiary, in which case the parish receives benefits only if a primary beneficiary dies before the donor. Life insurance left to an individual can be subject to estate taxes, but non-profit organizations such as CtR are tax-free - thus income taxes are eliminated or reduced through a charitable gift. Please visit with your plan administrator in make this gift or contact the CtR Stewardship Office for additional support.
Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church thrives because of the support of our many faithful parishioners who share their time and talent, as well as continue to make sacrificial gifts that ensure the CtR community meets its mission of serving the people of the greater Cypress area in the spirit of love, hospitality and social justice.
