Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond.Lectors are scheduled for weekend masses approximately once a month, and are asked to proclaim the Word at week day Mass when in attendance. New lectors are required to attend an initial formation session, which includes practicing public proclamation from the ambo with feedback from fellow lectors.
Individuals interested in joining this ministry must be 18 years old or older, possess a strong and clear public speaking voice, and have a commitment to study scripture and practice public proclamation. Typical time commitments for this ministry include three to four hours of at-home preparation during the week leading up to the lector assignment.
Lector formation trainings are offered periodically at Church for both new and existing lectors.

- Fulfill your scheduled assignment or secure a qualified substitute. Notify the Lector Coordinator if a sub is used
- Prepare for your assignment using the Lector Workbook, or similar training aids. Prepare for both readings in case the second Lector is absent
- Adhere to the Lector Dress code. Men-suit and tie. Women-dress or business suits
- Arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before Mass begins, sign in, and check with the Sacristan
- Attend any ministry formation (training) sessions, ministry commissioning events
- Make a one-year commitment
- Lector at daily Mass when in attendance and requested by the Presider
