Respect Life Ministry

The Respect Life Ministry brings awareness and educates our parish in all aspects of life. It promotes reverence for human life in all stages. Members of this ministry are involved in activities that range from educating the public about abortion and opposing its practice in the medical field to honoring and supporting the elderly in our parish.

The Respect Life Committee meets on an as-needed basis. The committee discusses parish activities and gives updates on events around the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. All are welcome to attend. No training is required, but due to some of the topics discussed, membership is limited to adults and mature teens.

Each October the Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, and the first Sunday of October is observed as Respect Life Sunday.  As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.

The 2024 theme is "I Came So That They Might Have Life."

In recognition of Respect Life Month, see below for prayerful and charitable opportunities at CtR. 

• Respect Life Sunday, October 6, 2024 - be sure to pick up a "Prayer for Life
  to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament" prayer card in the Narthex.
• Baby Bottle Blessings - our bi-annual Baby Bottle Blessings Program provides support for life-centered organizations in the Cypress and Houston area. Plastic baby bottles are distributed on Respect Life Sunday after all masses. Parishioners take the bottles home, fill them with loose change and return them by the end of the month.

• Respect Life Novena - October 22-30, 2024
  This novena prays for the protection of human life, from conception to natural death. Each day of the novena features a different pro-life prayer intention which is accompanied by a short reflection and suggested actions to help build a culture of life. Sign up for the daily prayers here.
