In the Church, God is "calling together" his people from all the ends of the earth. "The Church" is the People that God gathers in the whole world. She exists in local communities and is made real as a liturgical, above all a Eucharistic, assembly. She draws her life from the word and the Body of Christ and so herself becomes Christ's Body. (CCC 751-752)
The Church is called to continue the mission of Jesus Christ, to lead all to salvation with God. Through our baptism, we are named as members of the Church, and therefore responsible for fulfilling the mission laid before us whether we are priests, religious sisters or brothers, or laypeople. We are expected to make present and announce the name and love of Jesus Christ through the faith, hope, and charity graced upon us by the Holy Spirit.
